Unit 19 : Culture
Cultural issues have become very important in America , and for good reason. America is one of the most diverse countries on earth, with immigrants from every country and people from every ethnic background. So, sensitivity to different cultures is important in schools, offices, and elsewhere.
At the same time, there are many traditions, celebrations, and other cultural aspects shared throughout America . On big America holidays, such as the 4th of July and Thanksgiving, schools and companies close, and everyone has a day off. There are parades and other festivities on such days.
Pop-culture also has a strong influence on the lives of many people, especially the youth. From New York to Florida to California , popular music, TV shows, movies, and fashion are distributed and enjoyed by millions of Americans. Sports is another important part of the culture. Watching sporting events and playing sports are among the most popular weekend activities.
It's hard to say exactly what American culture is, since it changes quickly. One thing's for sure: it's very dynamic to watch and be a part of.
